Weed and Seed
In collaboration with the Vallejo Police Department, This program aims to reduce crime and improve the quality of life for residents in the West and North Vallejo areas of the city.
Four fundamental principles underlie the Weed
and Seed strategy: collaboration, coordination,
community participation, and leveraging of
resources.

Country Club Crest Clean-up
We began our efforts in the Country Club
Crest community. During 2009, the Vallejo Housing Authority joined Fighting Back Partnership in bringing much needed resources and community improvements to this often overlooked area of Vallejo. In 2009, approximately $800,000 was spent on infrastructure improvements in the Country Club Crest.
Another vital aspect of the Weed and Seed program is the Community Policing. Community policing embraces two key concepts—community engagement and problem solving. Community policing strategies foster a sense of responsibility within the community for solving crime problems and help develop cooperative relationships between the police and residents. Fighting Back Partnership has been able to re-convene the Specialized Multi-Agency Response Team (S.M.A.R.T.) and re-instituted a Neighborhood Block Watch Training program. In 2009, more than 20 new neighborhood groups underwent Block Watch training.
