Neighborhood Watch
"Safety and Community Mobilization"
Fighting Back Partnership has developed a plan to help revitalize our great City of Vallejo. After filing bankruptcy, City services were dramatically reduced. Fighting Back quickly saw a void in neighborhood response to community issues and neighborhood problems. As the rate of violent crimes and property crimes began to rise, the residents started pleading for help. To answer our residents call for assistance, Fighting Back revived the National Neighborhood Watch Program. The focus and theme is teaching neighbors to help neighbors!
Community Meeting
Initially, there were only 10 Neighborhood Watch Groups throughout the City. In November of 2009 Fighting Back organized a city-wide meeting with over 150 residents in attendance. As a result of city-wide budget cuts, the common theme was that residents did not feel safe in their neighborhoods due to the lack of police officers. This was the beginning of the formation of new Neighborhood Watch Groups. This program is now being taught to the neighborhoods by Fighting Back staff members, two being retired Vallejo Police Officers who specialized in Community Policing and Crime Prevention Programs.
These Neighborhood Watch Groups have been organized to promote long term solutions and sustainability for their individual neighborhoods. This positive attitude has empowered residents with safety and a sense of pride as well as cultivating healthy relationships between neighbors.
National Night Out Against Crime, Downtown Vallejo
The current amazing results of
Fighting Back Partnership’s efforts are:

National Night Out, Borges Ranch Neighborhood Clean-up
Neighborhood Watch has been one of the most successful community programs in the history of Vallejo. The Vallejo Police Department recommends that residents contact Fighting Back Partnership for assistance. Neighborhoods appreciate Fighting Back Partnership’s guidance and leadership. Due to its success with improving the quality of life in neighborhoods, Fighting Back Partnership has been requested by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) to present a workshop in Washington DC at CADCA’s Annual National Conference in February of 2011.
Neighborhood Clean-up
Currently, the Crime Prevention Neighborhood Watch Program is not funded. Fighting Back Partnership’s personnel are not compensated for their participation. Our staff donates their time to prepare, facilitate and directs the neighborhood meetings. Due to cuts in staff funding and the ever increasing requests to assist with a new Neighborhood Watch Group, the Neighborhood Watch Program will soon end without new funding. Unless Fighting Back Partnership is able to raise funds, support for Neighborhood Watch will stop March 1, 2011.
Citizens of Vallejo cannot afford to have this occur!
If you believe, as we do, that this is a worthwhile program for our City of Vallejo, then we ask that you join with us by providing either a one-time tax deductible donation or an ongoing tax deductible monthly DONATION THROUGH THE PayPal LINK ON OUR WEBSITE (www.fight-back.org). Fighting Back Partnership is a non-profit agency with a Federal Tax ID 68-0298092.
WHEN YOU DONATE, PLEASE INDICATE THAT IT IS FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 by the end of this year through the Pay Pal account. That will greatly assist the Neighborhood Watch Program until October 1, 2011. Each donation, no matter how large or how small will be acknowledged on our web site and in our newsletter. As of right now, our Pay Pal cannot set up ongoing monthly payments. We hope to have this done by the middle of December, although we can accept one time payments at this time.
On behalf of the Neighborhood Watch Program staff and Fighting Back Partnership we thank you in advance for considering to help this project!
