Touro Recognizes FBP Staff Member Mark Mora as Public Health Hero

On June 4, FBP Youth Programs Manager, Mark Mora, was recognized as a 2010 Public Health Hero Award recipient by Touro University for his work promoting public health and community development in the City of Vallejo. The award was presented at the Touro University Department of Public Health’s annual commencement awards luncheon where several others were also recognized. The purpose of the Public Health Hero Award is to honor students, faculty and community members who have demonstrated significant contributions and commitment to public health service and research. Mark was the only community member that received the award.
Mark is a proud Filipino-American product of the Vallejo City Unified School District, resident since 1989, and graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Communications. He currently coordinates Youth Partnership, a youth leadership and community problem-solving initiative, and he coordinates technical assistance to the Vallejo Alcohol and Tobacco Policy Coalition. He has over five years of experience in youth leadership development and over two years in community development, policy advocacy, and coalition building.
